Incident

Today, I was witness to a car wreck. It was just a little one, but, since I saw it, I pulled over to make sure everyone was okay. Another car did the same. As I was turning off my car to go talk to the people, one of the drivers got out and went into her backseat. She pulled out her baby and sat down on the street and sobbed, rocking back and forth. The baby was crying, but she didn't do anything to comfort it, like hearing it's cries reminded her that she had not harmed her child and that everything was okay.

It tore my heart out.

How painful it must be, every moment, to be a mother.

Sigh....your story made me tear up a little. I was a mess just dropping the little man at the sitter's after Thanksgiving break. I can't imagine even a little fender bender with such precious cargo. In some ways, that was probably a really beautiful moment to witness...the crazy love between a momma and her baby!

The part that I didn't say was that I proceeded to burst into tears and run over to the lady and give her a hug. She recoiled a little bit but then cried some more.

I actually still have a headache from crying this afternoon!
