Names, Part 900

Patrick has just decreed that we can only name our kid a FAMILY name. And only one from HIS family. Unless he thinks of one that he likes that SOUNDS like it could be in his family, but no one has thought to name their kid that yet. But none of the ones that I like fit in that category, so don't even think about it.

I swear, people. I am not making this stuff up. And he doesn't even understand why I laugh at him and then, in all seriousness, tell him that he gets no part in naming our kid.

Another classic example: last night, he suggested the name Manfred. MANFRED. You know, like the symphony!

Sorry for all the shouting. It's just that I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. Part of me wants to give up the fight, just let him pick something awful and be done with it. He's wearing me down, folks. I can only be strong for so long before something like MANFRED or HORACE or CLARENCE will slip in there and sound pretty good. I can only pray that he's in the bathroom or something when they come with the birth certificate.

Have him look up Manfred on Wikipedia. The famous poem is about ghosts and suicide! That should change his mind.

This is going to sound a bit crazy, but stick with me here: I'm not planning on having children, but I've had a list of my favorite baby names since the 10th grade -- names get added/removed every couple of years as my tastes change, but anyway if you want my list lemme know!

Of course there was also Manfred the Wonder Dog, but you two are way too young for that....

Katie, why does Patrick hate his future son? He he done something wrong to him via the womb? Did he kick really hard and hurt his hand?
How about Patrick Jr? It is a normal name, and is obviously from his family!
Hang in there, Katie! You Must protect your son from many an ass-kicking on the playground!

As a mum-to-be, you're entitled to a number of strops, tantrums and hissy fits.

Have one over this! :)

The boy's name matters, a lot. It's your firstborn child. You need to have your way, here.
