Zzzzzz

Sorry I haven't posted much in the last few days. I've been busy SLEEPING.

Yes, my fine four fendered friends, (or maybe you don't have fenders) that's right. Colin is sleeping through the night.

And the angels sang from heaven and we saw that it was good. Really, really, life-savingly good.

I haven't wanted to talk about it much because I didn't want to jinx it, but he slept for six hours that first night that we moved him into his own room. We did some traveling right after that, so the sleeping was a little dicey. But every time we put him down in his own bed, he sleeps like an angel. We've developed a little nighttime ritual that seems to do the trick: Bottle of formula and vitamin goodness about 9:30pm. Look at the Christmas tree lights for awhile. (We're going to have to have a year-round Christmas tree, because it is a critical soothing tool.) Head upstairs and read a few books. Colin starts to fuss around 10 or 10:15pm, so he has a little nursing nightcap. I usually fall asleep too for a few minutes. Then we toss him in his bed, make sure the nightlight and his music are on, send up a little prayer that he will sleep, and we leave. Some nights, like tonight, he's asleep by the time I walk out the door. Other nights he needs a little time to wind down. Either way, I can't believe how lucky we are. The last five nights, he has slept from 11pm to 7am, then goes back to sleep for another two hours. Eight hours in a row.

I am rediscovering adult activities like surfing the internet late into the night and drinking bourbon, since I can now claim an average of eight hours of sleep at night. I feel like I am dooming myself to a sleepless future even by writing this, but I had to share this with someone. I simply had to tell someone of my boundless joy based solely in the fact that I am sleeping! I've even been dreaming!

I AM SLEEPING!!!

Hm... I hear him through the monitor. The curse is starting already. I didn't even get my teeth brushed.

Yeah for sleep! I'm glad moving him out of your room did the trick for you too. I think there's something to the scent theory....
Hope to see you in the next few weeks!
