Weekend Update

Yay! Mystery solved, thanks to the wonders of technology and the internet!

A big thanks to Aunt L, rock star aunt and awesome reader, who sent the adorable outfit from yesterday's post!

We had a completely lovely and very social weekend, another example of something that may seem normal to others but is a total joy for us. Friday night, we went with some friends to see WALL-E, which is possibly my new favorite movie. I could talk about it for hours, and have been happily rehashing my favorite scenes with Patrick ever since. Afterwards, we hit up a neat place in town called Saul Good's, which offers the legendary Chicken and Waffles. Awesome.

Saturday we slept in (yay!) and then met up with my Reader friend Ashley (hi Ashley!) and Brian for lunch. Patrick and I had suggested that we meet at our favorite chinese place, which is owned by a friend's family. Ashley, who is superbly cool, said, "Oh, I'd love to, but could we do that another time? I'm competing in a triathalon on Sunday and chinese might not be the best option." Wait, what? A TRIATHALON? As I said, she is super cool and I am not worthy.

Today brought for us a lovely pot-luck brunch with friends in the morning. This was fabulous not only because there was A LOT of food involved, but also because it brought together some of my absolute favorite people in Lex, some of whom I'd not seen since before I took boards. We rushed home from that in time for a visit from Patrick's mom! She doesn't live too far away, but it's hard for her to get here, so her visits are infrequent. She came and brought food as well as some of Patrick's baby clothes! It was so sweet to see her get all nostalgic about Patrick (who turns a very high number tomorrow on his birthday!) and then about her soon-to-be grandson.

All in all, I have come to the conclusion that summer rocks and should be in session all year round. Sleeping in, eating good food, and hanging out with friends should be the norm instead of the exception.

1 Readers rock!:

Did the Turnip eat chicken and waffles for his first meat-eating experience?!?
Or was that just a fun recommendation for the carnivorously inclined reader? ;)
