Two Things I Love

I want to share with you two things that I love. First, and most important, because maybe you’ll love them too. Second, and more practically, to get that depressing, sodden, whiny post off the top of the page.

The first is the Classical Baby Poetry video from the Classical Baby HBO series. We got it as a gift from our good friends as a get-well present when I had my appendix out all those months ago, and, though I thought it very sweet, I kind of blew it off. I watched a minute of it, but it didn’t grab me within the first five seconds, so, like the child of America that I am, I moved on to something else. Then, sometime later, I popped it in to see if Colin would like it. He did, a lot, but that was nothing compared to how much I loved it. Patrick, too. We L-O-V-E this video. We love the sweet poems, the catchy but not obnoxious songs. We love the voice actors, the lovely cartoons. Seriously, we love this video. I have tried and tried to implement this video as a part of Colin’s bedtime routine for the sole purpose of being able to watch it every day. He’s not really that patient, unfortunately. Don’t tell anyone, but on some days, the really bad ones, I watch it after Colin goes to bed.

The second is something that I just discovered today via Girl’s Gone Child, one of my very favorite blogs. Rebecca, the talented, strong, beautiful woman who writes that website, posted this today and I thought immediately of how it reminded me of a grown-up version of the Classical Baby video that has entwined its way into my heart. It is a music video of a catchy pop song in which the musicians take the place of prominent and famous subjects of paintings. It is at once clever and sweet, which I think is not at all a bad thing to be.

Katie! I had a dream about you - you brought Colin into ENT clinic(as well as your entire extended family, apparently)... That was about the extent of the dream except that I was so excited to see you! Hope you're doing great!
